Aneurin Donald and Henry Crocombe have received their first England call-ups after being selected in separate 16-member squads for the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka.
Donald, the hard-hitting Derbyshire opener, has been included in England’s T20I squad following an excellent domestic season. Sussex fast bowler Crocombe, meanwhile, has earned a place in the ODI group after impressing the selectors with his performances during the summer.
Harry Brook will captain England in both formats. Jamie Overton also returns to the national side after a thigh injury forced him to miss the white-ball series against India earlier this summer.
Phil Salt will not be available for the Sri Lanka series because of a right quad injury. Jacob Bethell has also been ruled out after undergoing successful surgery on his injured knee earlier this week. He will continue his rehabilitation programme.

Donald enjoyed an outstanding T20 Blast campaign for Derbyshire, scoring 489 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 230.66. His tournament included four half-centuries.
The 29-year-old made his T20 debut in 2015 and has since scored 2,423 runs in the format, including 18 half-centuries. His aggressive batting and consistency during the domestic season played a major role in earning him a place in the England squad.
Crocombe has also been on England’s radar for some time. He was previously included in the squad as cover for Ollie Robinson ahead of the second Test against New Zealand.
The 24-year-old fast bowler has taken 49 wickets in 36 List A appearances since making his debut in the 50-over format in 2021.
England men’s national selector Marcus North said both players had earned their opportunities through impressive performances in domestic cricket.
“Aneurin Donald and Henry Crocombe are two promising players who fully deserve their places after performing strongly in the domestic game,” North said.
“Aneurin has enjoyed an exceptional season for Derbyshire in the Vitality Blast and with Trent Rockets in The Hundred. Henry is also someone we have monitored closely throughout the summer.”
England will begin the tour with three T20Is against Sri Lanka. The opening match will be played in Southampton on September 15, followed by games in Cardiff on September 17 and Manchester on September 19.
The three-match ODI series will then begin in Chester-le-Street on September 22. The remaining matches are scheduled to take place in Leeds on September 24 and at The Oval on September 27.
